Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan is a program that makes it possible for users of the Wauwatosa Public Library to borrow materials from libraries located outside of Milwaukee County, usually at no charge. Academic, medical and other special libraries and public libraries throughout the State of Wisconsin and across the nation participate in this program.
To borrow materials through ILL, see a librarian at the Information Desk in the adult library. You will need to complete an Interlibrary Loan form and present a current, valid library card issued by the Wauwatosa Public Library or by another public library within Milwaukee County. 5 items may be requested at a time.
Available via Interlibrary Loan
Items that can be requested through Wauwatosa Public Library ILL include:
- Books
- Photocopied articles (please provide complete information including date and page numbers)
- Microfilm of newspapers
- Academic materials such as theses and dissertations.
Not Available via Interlibrary Loan
Items that cannot be requested include:
- New books (less than 1 year old)
- CDs, DVDs, videos and audiobooks
- Textbooks
- Reference books
- Materials that are owned by one of the 15 public libraries in Milwaukee County.
Loan Period
The loan period for items borrowed through Interlibrary Loan is set by the owning library. Books may be borrowed with your library card and taken home. Photocopies may be kept. Microfilm must be viewed in the Wauwatosa Public Library. Items borrowed through ILL must be returned to the Wauwatosa Public Library.
