Volunteering at the Wauwatosa Public Library
WE CURRENTLY ARE NOT ACCEPTING VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS.
We are very grateful to the many people who volunteer their time and talents at the Wauwatosa Public Library. Volunteer opportunities are available in the Adult and Children’s departments of the Library on a regular basis, and for special events such as the twice annual Book Sale.
If you are interested in volunteering at the Wauwatosa Public Library, you can either stop at the Circulation Desk and complete a volunteer application, or submit an application using the links below. All applicants are interviewed.
For further information, please contact Cori Lutz at (414) 471-8487 or via e-mail.
Here are some ways you can help our staff or patrons at the Wauwatosa Public Library:
This involves locating and pulling books that have been put on hold by patrons. Our paging slip volunteers need to be available in the mornings. The shift is usually weekly for approximately two to three hours.
Our computer volunteers come in for a two-hour shift either in the morning or afternoon once per week. Saturdays are also available. The computer volunteers help patrons with computer questions. Common questions are: “How do I upload my resume to this website?” and “How do I print just one page of this website?”.
Reviewing each individual library item to be sure it is in good order. This is a sitting position that is very individual and can be done in any quiet place of the library. Volunteers can come in and leave whenever they want after they have received training.
Reviewing the shelves to ensure the items are in perfect order. This is position that requires the ability to stand and squat for longer periods of time. It is very individual and is done in specific needed areas of the library. Volunteers can come in and leave whenever they want after they have received training.
Cleaning/Repairing Damaged Media Items
This position involves using a professional cleaning machine to clean and repair CDs, DVDs and other media discs. This is mainly a sitting position. Ideally, this volunteer would come in once a week for two hours.
The library has a Spring and Fall book sale. Volunteers come in two times per year to help set up for the sale.
