Databases By Subject
The Gale courses are six-week online interactive courses for personal enrichment and professional development. Courses include a variety of topics such as genealogy basics, computer skills for the workplace and sign language, to name a few. The courses are instructor-led and sessions begin every month.
Adult Learning Center is the adult learners version of HelpNow where patrons access GED prep, U.S citizenship test prep, resume assistance, Microsoft Office support, and Career Resources which lists popular job search links. Microsoft Office support allows patrons to ask questions about Excel, Word and PowerPoint. The Writing Lab, Send Question and the Skills Building are also included in the Adult Learning Center suite. Tutors are available every day from 2:00 pm to 1:00 am.

Salem’s Career-In series provides a wide range of information on career opportunities to give job-seekers a true inside look at their career options in a wide range of in-demand fields.

Transparent Language provides a fun, effective and engaging way for individuals to learn a foreign language. It is intended for all levels of learners looking to build their listening, reading, speaking and writing skills in a foreign language. In addition to a course, there are supplemental vocabulary and grammar resources and a mobile app. It offers over 100 languages to choose from. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel online provides full-text articles from 1990 to present on local news, issues, events, people and much more from current and archived issues of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Updated daily, it includes obituaries, editorials, announcements, sports, real estate and other sections of the paper.
