- Mindfulness Apps for Relaxation (September 3)
Learn about computer apps that will help calm your mind and body for improved mental and physical health. We’re headed into a time of year that can often bring added stress into our lives. This class will show you some tools that can help you better manage moments of anxiety.
- Tools for Contacting Your Lawmaker (September 10)
In this nonpartisan class, we will be covering topics related to civic participation, not political belief. Learn how your political representatives are voting, what bills they’re sponsoring, how to contact them and how to let them know where you stand on important issues.
- Protecting Your Privacy Online (October 1)
Learn various ways to stay safe online. Gain practical tips and tricks to identify and manage scams, phishing and safely shop online. Don’t think it can’t happen to you. Gain valuable insight and leave empowered! (This class was held in Spring of 2024 and is being repeated due to demand.)
- The Basics of Texting and Emojis (October 8)
Do you have younger people in your life or perhaps grandkids who prefer to text? Join us and we will teach you how! We’ve got some amusing insight from our young adult consultants on what’s cool and what’s not. Age with attitude and become a texting wizard!
- Using Digital Library Resources (October 14)
Join our amazing Wauwatosa Public Librarians for this truly special class! They will be teaching you the ins and outs of using Libby and Hoopla more efficiently while also sharing other digital resources available to our library patrons.
- How to Use Online Fitness Apps (October 22)
We’re heading into the time of year when our weather turns and leaving the house can sometimes be less desirable. Keep your fitness routines going with one of the many fitness apps available. We’ll help you decipher the ones that fitness experts prefer, so you can find one that will help keep you motivated, safe and healthy this winter.
- Introduction to Social Media (October 29)
Jump in to this overview of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X (formerly Twitter). We’ll discuss the limitless ways social media can be enjoyed in our lives, pros and cons of each platform and emphasize ways to be a discerning consumer of all social media.
- Making Holiday Cards and Letters (November 12)
Let’s use your newfound tech skills to make fun holiday photo cards and write letters to your family & friends. We’ll talk about the many websites where you can do this, and we’ll help you do it! Come with a photo stored on your device that you would like to include on your card.
- Introduction to Photo Editing Skills (November 19)
Maybe you attended our Cell Phone Photography class? Come and delve further into learning how to edit your photos. We’ll also explore how the images we see in the media can sometimes be edited. We’ll talk about the features on your phones as well as photo editing apps that can do even more.
- Introduction for Safe Online Shopping (December3)
Fasten your elf hat! Do you have some holiday shopping you need to tackle? We’ll be talking about the most popular online shopping websites. We’ll discuss Amazon, Etsy, Target, Walmart and eBay. We’ll address your online shopping issues, do a little practice shopping and even explore online grocery ordering and food delivery.
- Guide to Using Google Maps (December 10)
Learn all about Google Maps and how to use it for directions and so much more- whether you’re driving, walking or using public transportation. Not only does this App enable you to see real-time traffic, but you can also enjoy features such as viewing famous places throughout the world. It offers a plethora of enjoyable features. Transport yourself in this fun class! We’ll visit some amazing sites and even try it out in real time.
- Tech and Tinsel Celebration (December 16)
Join us as we celebrate YOU and all that you’ve learned in Senior Planet this year! Connect with each other and our instructors at this festive event!
